Where did this come from? I did a straight forward combine of two tracks from http://datacent.com/hard_drive_sounds.php, a site I briefly blogged about last year.

To create ringtones like this on a Mac, get the mp3 files and import them into iTunes.

Right click on the tracks in iTunes and convert to AAC.

Select the AAC versions and drag them into GarageBand.

Fiddle around with Garageband until you like what you hear, then ’share to disk’ as AAC.

Change the .m4a extension to .m4r then double click to load it into iTunes as a ringtone which you can sync to your iPhone.

Other phones, operating systems… you’re on your own.
